For professionals who work with separated families
Read-only, checked first, and fair to both homes.
ParentGlow is a UK co-parenting app. When a parent invites you, you can read the parts of their family’s record they choose to share. First, a person at ParentGlow checks who you are. Both parents can see you’re there. And you never pay.
- Free for professionals
- No fees, either way
- No listings or rankings
True for every professional
Five things you can count on.
Each one describes how the portal works today, not a hope for later. Where something is still being built, this page says so.
Checked before you read anything
A person at ParentGlow reviews every professional before a single page opens. Regulated means a positive, active match for the person or centre, as applicable, on the relevant public register or accreditation list; an organisation email domain alone supports Identified, not Regulated. For Cafcass, we also check current affiliation.
The parent decides
You read what the parent chooses to share, until the date they choose. Only the parent who invited you can end it early, and after that your next request is refused.
Both parents can see it
Every professional with access is listed for both parents: who you are, who invited you, what you can see and until when. Nothing about access is hidden from either home.
Every page you open is recorded
Both parents can see when you opened each page, and each export or report you downloaded: Messages at 14:02 on a Tuesday, say. Not which messages you read, and not what you searched for. Opening the Documents area is recorded too; each file link then lasts an hour.
Nobody pays anybody
You never pay us and we never pay you. No referral fees, no commission, no listings and no rankings, so recommending ParentGlow costs you nothing and earns you nothing.
How access works
From an invitation to a read-only record, in five steps.
This is how it will work for solicitors, barristers, McKenzie Friends and support workers when the register opens. Roles that have to stay neutral work differently, and aren’t open yet; see below.
-
A parent invites you
In the ParentGlow app, the parent adds you by name and work email, chooses what you’ll be able to read and for how long, and sends you the link themselves. We never contact professionals.
-
You apply, and a person checks
You open a free professional account and tell us your role, organisation and registration. Someone at ParentGlow checks it; we aim to decide within one working day, Monday to Friday. If a register lookup comes back empty, we ask you for more rather than refuse.
-
The record opens, read-only
Once you’re approved, the parent’s link opens their family’s record for exactly what they chose. It only works for an approved account using the email address the parent entered, and it lasts seven days; if it lapses, the parent can send a new one.
-
Both parents can see you’re there
You appear in the family’s list of who can see their record, with what we checked. The other parent is also sent a phone notification, though one that falls in their quiet hours may not arrive.
-
It ends when the parent says so, or on the date
Only the parent who invited you can end your access early; after that your next request is refused, though a download already started may finish. It also ends if that parent leaves the family, and otherwise on the date they chose: twelve months unless they picked another.
Inside the portal
The same record the parents see, read-only.
The portal shows you what the parents already see in the app, never a separate version of it. You can’t add, change, delete or send anything.
You’ll see, read-only
- Calendar. Handovers, events and their times and places, as both homes see them.
- Messages. Messages and handover notes, each with the time it was sent. Search and filter by date, author, child, category or attachments; attachments are listed, not opened.
- Shared expenses. Each cost, its status and the running balance between the homes. You can’t add, agree or settle anything.
- Documents. Shared documents, if the parent left them in. Health documents only if the parent chose to include them.
- Court-ready exports. The exports the parent who invited you has made, reports on parenting time and schedule changes, and court packs for the calendar and messages.
You’ll never see
- A parent’s private journal
- Either parent’s account or security settings
- Anything the other parent has exported for themselves
- Anything at all before you’re approved
Worth knowing
- Reading a message never marks it as seen for the parents.
- You see messages and expenses from the date the parent who invited you joined ParentGlow.
- Your own case details, such as your reference, the court case number, who you act for and the next hearing date, are visible only to you and never exported.
Who can apply, and what we check
One check per role, shown to both parents.
We need a positive match for you as an individual, or for an accredited centre where relevant, on the active register or accreditation list for your role before we can call the account Regulated. An organisation email domain alone supports Identified, not Regulated. A person makes every decision; nothing is approved automatically.
| Your role | What we check | What parents see | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solicitors in England and Wales | The Solicitors Regulation Authority’s register | “Regulated: on the SRA register”, your reference and the date we checked | When the register opens |
| Solicitors in Scotland | The Law Society of Scotland’s search for practising solicitors | “Regulated: on the Law Society of Scotland register”, your name or reference and the date we checked | When the register opens |
| Solicitors in Northern Ireland | The public solicitor search is not the official Roll; confirm current status directly with the Society’s Roll team | “Regulated” only after current status is confirmed against the official Roll; a directory match alone is not enough | When the register opens |
| Barristers | The Bar Standards Board’s Barristers’ Register | “Regulated: on the BSB register”, your reference and the date we checked | When the register opens |
| McKenzie Friends, support workers and others without a register | Who you are and the organisation you work for. We check identity, not qualifications. | “Identified: role not held on a public register” | When the register opens |
| Family mediators | The Family Mediation Council’s register (it lists accredited mediators and those working towards accreditation) | “Regulated: on the FMC register”, your reference and the date we checked | Later, and only with both parents’ permission |
| Social workers in England | Social Work England’s register | “Regulated: on the Social Work England register”, your reference and the date we checked | Not open yet |
| Social workers in Wales | Social Care Wales’s register of social care workers | “Regulated: on the Social Care Wales register”, your reference and the date we checked | Not open yet |
| Social workers in Scotland | The Scottish Social Services Council’s register | “Regulated: on the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) register”, your reference and the date we checked | Not open yet |
| Social workers in Northern Ireland | The Northern Ireland Social Care Council’s public facing register | “Regulated: on the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) register”, your reference and the date we checked | Not open yet |
| Cafcass officers | A positive active individual match on the relevant social-work register, plus a separate check of current Cafcass affiliation ( Social Work England register , Social Care Wales register ) | “Regulated” only after both checks; the register, your reference and the date we checked | Later, and only with both parents’ permission |
| Children’s guardians | A positive active individual match on the relevant social-work register, plus confirmation of the current appointment with the appointing court or authority | “Regulated” only after the register and appointment checks, your reference and the date we checked | Not open yet |
| Child contact centres | The National Association of Child Contact Centres’ list of accredited centres (NACCC accredits centres, not individual staff) | “Regulated: on NACCC’s accredited-centre list”, the centre’s reference and the date we checked | Not open. If added: handover arrangements only |
None of these bodies endorses ParentGlow, and a register check isn’t a recommendation: it shows who you are, not how good you are. A register can be incomplete for good reasons (the SRA, for example, withholds some records where there’s a serious risk of harm), so an empty lookup means we ask you for more, never an automatic no. An organisation email domain alone supports Identified, not Regulated. If you apply from a free email address, such as Gmail, we can only approve you as Identified.

Some roles have to stay neutral.
A solicitor acts for one parent, so one parent’s invitation is enough. A mediator, a Cafcass officer or a children’s guardian doesn’t act for either of them, and reading one parent’s record on that parent’s say-so wouldn’t be fair to the other. So access for these roles will need both parents’ permission, and it isn’t open yet. For mediators and Cafcass officers the rule is already written into the portal, but their invitations aren’t, and we won’t open them until they are. A children’s guardian role isn’t built yet.
Cafcass and Cafcass Cymru work with a family when a court asks them to, and have their own secure ways to receive information. We don’t approach them, and they don’t endorse ParentGlow. If a Family Court Adviser asks a parent for information, the parent can send their own ParentGlow exports through those routes.
In Wales, social workers register with Social Care Wales, and we can check its public register when the professional register opens. Social worker and Cafcass access is still not open. For a Cafcass Cymru officer, a positive Social Care Wales match would not prove current Cafcass Cymru affiliation; we would check that separately before any regulated approval.

Planned, not built
Things we’ll only say are here when they are.
- Access for neutral roles, starting with mediators, and only with both parents’ permission.
- A view for accredited contact centres, limited to handover arrangements: no messages, no expenses.
- Funded places for families. Domestic-abuse services and registered charities will be able to fund places for the families they support. It isn’t built, and the terms aren’t set.
Questions professionals ask
The honest answers.
Something we haven’t covered? A real person answers at hello@parentglow.co.uk, and the contact page points each kind of enquiry to the right place.
hello@parentglow.co.ukDo professionals pay anything to use ParentGlow?
No. A professional account is free, and it will stay free. There is nothing to buy, and no paid tier that shows you more.
Does ParentGlow pay professionals, or want anything back for a recommendation?
No. We never pay professionals and never ask for referrals: no fees, no commission, no perks and no listings, and nothing depends on how many families use ParentGlow. If you mention it to a family, it is because you think it will help them.
Is ParentGlow a law firm, a mediation service or regulated?
No. ParentGlow is a co-parenting app. It is not a law firm or a mediation service, it is not regulated by the SRA or any legal regulator, and it does not give legal advice.
Will the other parent know I have access?
Yes. Every professional with access is listed for both parents, with who invited them, what they can see and until when, and both parents can see when each page was opened. The other parent is also sent a phone notification when a professional is invited, though one that falls in their quiet hours may not arrive.
Can the other parent end my access?
No. Only the parent who invited you can end the access they gave, and they can do it at any time. If both parents invite you, you keep access until each has ended their own.
What happens to what I have downloaded when access ends?
Your next request is refused, though a download already started may finish, and files you have already downloaded cannot be recalled. Our draft professional terms ask you to use what you see only for the matter you were instructed on, and to delete working copies you do not need to keep under your own professional duties.
When does the professional register open?
When our professional terms and privacy notice are final and the last of the access we used while building the portal has been removed. We will not guess a date. Register your interest and we will email you when you can apply.
Does Cafcass use ParentGlow?
No. Cafcass and Cafcass Cymru do not endorse ParentGlow, and we do not approach them. They work with a family when a court asks them to, and they have their own secure ways to receive information. If a Family Court Adviser asks a parent for information, the parent can send their own ParentGlow exports that way.
This page describes how ParentGlow works, as checked against the app on 28 September 2026. It isn’t legal advice. The terms professionals will accept are published as a draft, written before the register design and being revised to match it; where they differ, this page describes what the portal does.
