A quiet check before you press send.

As you write a message or a handover note, Tone Guard uses a specialist AI service to check the draft once you pause and flag wording that might come across as heated. If it does, a calmer version is one tap away. You decide what sends: nothing goes until you press send, and it never stops you sending a message or a handover note. A proposal note shows its Tone Guard result for you to confirm before it goes; if it is flagged, the result is kept with that note.

  • Flags heated wording as you type
  • A calmer version, one tap away
  • Never stops you sending a message

The short answer

Does ParentGlow stop me sending an angry message?

No. Tone Guard checks the message you are typing once you pause and flags wording that might read as heated. On a flagged message you can tap for a calmer version, then use it, change it or ignore it. Nothing is sent until you press send, and it never stops you sending a message or a handover note.

  • Checks as you type

It looks at your draft once you pause, and only once there is something to look at.

  • A nudge, not a wall

A flagged message gets a gentle nudge, small, medium or strong, and can point to the phrases it noticed.

  • A calmer version on request

Tap for a calmer version. You choose whether to use it, change it or ignore it.

  • Only your draft is sent

The words of your draft are sent to be checked. Nothing about your account, your family or your children goes with them, and the draft itself is not stored by the check. A flagged proposal note keeps its Tone Guard result with the note.

How it works

What happens when you write.

  1. Write as you normally would

Tone Guard runs in the messages composer and on handover notes. There is nothing to switch on.

  2. See the nudge if a message reads as heated

A short note appears under your draft, with the phrases it noticed where it can point to them.

  3. Tap for a calmer version, if you want one

Press “Suggest a calmer rewrite”. The calmer version goes into your own box to edit, and nothing is sent until you press send.

  4. Send when you are ready

Ignore the nudge if you disagree. Tone Guard never stops you sending a message or a handover note.

What happens when you write different kinds of message
What you writeWhat Tone Guard doesGood to know
A message that reads as heated Flags it with a gentle nudge. A calmer version is one tap away. You can still send it as written.
A calm, factual message Nothing. No nudge, no delay. It only checks once you pause.
A note on a schedule proposal Checks it once more when you send. If it is flagged, you see the warning and choose whether to send anyway. That check is kept with the proposal, because the note is part of the record.
A message about a child’s safety, health or wellbeing Will not offer to soften it. Those are best in your own words. Tone Guard is not safeguarding; see below.
A handover-screen message that was flagged when it was sent Shows a small flag beside it. Both parents can see it. The flag is recorded in a court export, as a record of what Tone Guard noticed on that phone.

Fair to both of you

The same check for both of you.

  • One rule, both phones

Tone Guard runs on both parents’ phones in the same way, with the same nudges.

  • Your draft stays yours

A calmer version only becomes your message if you use it, and you can edit it first.

  • Nothing hidden from the record

What you send is what is recorded. On the handover screen, if a message was flagged when it was sent, both of you can see that flag.

The honest limits

What Tone Guard doesn’t do.

  • It doesn’t read messages sent to you

Tone Guard only ever looks at what you are writing.

  • It doesn’t block or prevent a message

A flagged message can still be sent. The one exception is a note on a schedule proposal: a flagged note waits until you have seen the warning and chosen to send anyway.

  • It isn’t abuse or safeguarding detection

It does not judge whether a child is at risk. If a message raises a concern about a child’s safety, health or wellbeing, Tone Guard will not offer to soften it, so the concern stays in your own words.

  • It makes no promise about outcomes

We don’t claim Tone Guard reduces conflict or leads to better outcomes for children. It is a nudge, used or ignored by you.

  • Calmer versions are capped

You can ask for up to twenty calmer versions an hour.

When a tone check isn’t the answer

Tone Guard helps with the message you are about to send. If your co-parent’s messages feel threatening, controlling or relentless, that isn’t something a tone check should have to fix, and you don’t have to keep replying.

Tone Guard, compared

A nudge, not a filter.

Parents ask how this differs from rereading a message yourself, or from a filter that blocks certain words. The honest comparison.

Common questions

Tone Guard, answered honestly.

What is Tone Guard?

Tone Guard uses a specialist AI service to check the message you are typing once you pause and flag wording that might read as heated. Only the words of your draft are sent; nothing about your account, your family or your children goes with them, and the draft is not stored by the check. On a flagged message you can tap for a calmer version, choose whether to use it, and edit it before sending.

Does it stop me sending?

No. Tone Guard never stops you sending a message or a handover note. A note on a schedule proposal is checked once more when you send: it shows the Tone Guard result for you to confirm before it goes, and a flagged note waits until you have seen the warning and chosen to send anyway.

Does it read my co-parent’s messages?

No. It only ever looks at what you are writing.

Where do my words go?

Only the words of your draft are sent to be checked or rewritten, to a specialist AI service. Nothing about your account, your family or your children goes with them, and the draft is not stored by the check. If a proposal note is sent with a Tone Guard flag, its result is kept with that note.

Can my co-parent see that a message was flagged?

In the Messages tab, no. On the handover screen, a message that was flagged when it was sent shows a small flag that both parents can see, and that flag is recorded in a court export.

Does Tone Guard spot abuse?

No. It is not domestic-abuse or safeguarding detection and it does not judge whether a child is at risk. If a message raises a concern about a child’s safety, health or wellbeing, Tone Guard will not offer to soften it, so the concern stays in your own words.

How many calmer versions can I ask for?

Up to twenty an hour.
